Asset Allocation Fund
A general trust fund or mutual investment fund that distributes its portfolio among a wide variety of investments, including domestic and foreign stocks and bonds, government securities, and real estate stocks. This gives small investors much more diversification than they could get by distributing money on their own. Some of these funds maintain relatively constant proportions distributed among different sectors, while others change the ratio as market conditions change.
An asset
is a resource that has economic value for its owner. Examples of an asset are cash, accounts receivable, inventory, real estate, and securities.
Automatic organization of contributions
A plan function in which the insured employee's compensation is reduced by the amount specified in the plan and is contributed to the plan on behalf of the employee, unless the employee makes a positive decision to contribute another amount or does not contribute any amount to the plan. In the case of a 401k plan with an automatic contribution agreement, the amounts withheld from employee compensation are entered into the plan as elective deferrals, and the percentage of compensation paid is called the default deferral rate.
Automatic registration
The practice of including all eligible employees in the plan and deferring entry-level participants without requiring employees to apply for participation. The design of the plan determines how these automatic deferrals will be invested. Employees who do not want to delay the implementation of the plan should actively apply for exclusion from the plan. As a rule, participants can change the amount of deferred payment and how it is invested.
Auto-escalation
A plan that automatically increases the percentage of (retirement) funds saved from wages. This type of plan usually includes a standard or standard contribution increase rate.
Accounting balance sheet
A company's financial report that contains a picture of its assets, debts, and net worth at a certain point in time.
Balanced fund
A general trust fund or mutual investment fund that maintains a balanced portfolio is usually 50% bonds or preferred shares and 50% ordinary shares, but this percentage can vary and does change.
Beta
A measure of a stock's risk relative to the market is usually the Standard & Poor's 500 index. The beta of the market is always 1.0; a beta above 1.0 indicates that on average, when the market is rising, stocks will rise more, and when the market is falling, stocks will fall more. A beta below 1.0 indicates that, on average, stocks will move less than the market. The higher the beta, the higher the risk.
