The installation of floors in the house is a mandatory final stage of construction. There are several options for installing wooden decking that are most suitable for a log house, and they depend on the design of the floor itself. As a rule, conventional floorboards are used in a wooden house, the differences are only in the preparation of logs and additional supports.
Installation of floors in a house without a basement
In a house where there is no basement, it is best to install "floating" wooden floors on support posts and logs made of wooden beams.
The procedure for the construction of "floating floors" is as follows: a layer of soil of the required thickness is removed, then a cushion of sand or crushed stone is created. Concrete, brick or wooden supports are built on top of this cushion at a distance of 0.7 – 1.0 m from each other. After the solution gets stronger, you can proceed directly to the floor arrangement. Wooden beams, floorboards, and wooden skirting boards are used.
Floors in a house with a cellar
If the house has a basement, it will not be possible to install support pillars. In this case, all the proposed designs must be accurately calculated.
After installing the main elements, the structure must be reinforced using lintels made of concrete or metal.
The horizontality of the lag flooring is necessarily controlled by the level, both in the first and in the second case.
Flooring of single plank floors without insulation
If the insulation of the floors during the renovation of a wooden house is not provided, then the flooring consists in laying pre-prepared floorboards. The first board is nailed to the wall, with a gap of at least one centimeter. The following floorboards are nailed tightly together, after which it remains only to install a wooden skirting board.
Self–tapping screws and a screwdriver can be used to fasten the boards together, and staples and wedges can be used to tie the assembled floor.
Finished floors are cleaned, sanded, and prepared for further coating. As a rule, a wooden skirting board is installed, which gives the plank floor a complete look.
Insulation of double floors
If the project stipulates the installation of double floors in the house, then, probably, we are talking about additional insulation.
The double floor consists of two rows of wooden logs – the main and additional, inside which the rough floor is arranged. The rough floor is usually made of cheap second-rate materials.
The gaps formed between the timber are filled with a clay solution with sawdust. This is the cheapest traditional way to insulate floors.
Modern insulation materials are easy to cut, stack, have good thermal and sound insulation properties and are lightweight sheets.
Foundation ventilation system
In order for the floorboards not to get damp and rot, the space under the floor must be ventilated. For this purpose, special holes are arranged in the foundation.
